I had the pleasure of calling some old friends today, people I had not spoken to in a very long time. In those conversations, I noticed myself falling back into my familiar way of listening and learning how they have been moving through their lives.

I realized that each of us, no matter how much hardship we face, is capable of becoming someone deeply heartwarming if we are willing to share our hearts with one another.

One friend told me that his greatest fear is that someone he loves could develop dementia, a disease that slowly takes away memory. I found that deeply moving.

A life filled with strong, lasting relationships is what makes us feel whole, or at least gives our hearts a deeper sense of fullness.

My heart aches for those who I care about and yet their lives are not my responsibility. There is so much love in this world. You just have to be open to receiving it when it comes your way.

And today reminded me of something simple. These conversations only exist because one of us chose to try. To dial the number. To be present. To care enough to reach across time and silence.

It made me realize how many possibilities are quietly waiting for us, held just beyond our hesitation. So much of life changes when we make the smallest effort. When we speak honestly. When we listen. When we allow ourselves to reconnect. Nothing is guaranteed, but nothing is closed either.

There are infinite possibilities in this life if we just try.
